The Emmaus Training event has been scheduled for October 16, 2010. Click HERE for the registration form. This training day can be a substitute for the 'Day of Deeper Understanding.'

Lee Gochenour

From The News and Advance:

Lee Anthony Gochenour, 65, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Julia Meekins Gochenour.

Born Jan. 7, 1944, in Lancaster, Pa., he was the son of the late Lloyd and Margaret Fritch Gochenour. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Liam Meekins.

Mr. Gochenour served in the Pennsylvania National Guard during the Vietnam Conflict and was retired from R.R. Donnelley Printing. He was a member of Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served as trustee. He was a member of the LCVA Emmaus, where he served as a board member, and was a former member of the Center Fire Gun Club in Lovingston. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.

Survivors also include his daughter, Pearl Russell of Columbia, Pa.; two foster children, Jeffrey Meekins of Lynchburg and Scott Meekins of Columbia, Pa.; 10 grandchildren, Crystal Sherburne of Madison Heights, Justin Burkey of Columbia, Donald Burkey, Megan Russell and Brandon Russell, all of Columbia, Jaimee Meekins and Eli Tomlin of Lynchburg, Rayvn Meekins and Ketchun Meekins, both of Manheim, Pa., and Alexis Sherburne of Lynchburg; great-granddaughter, Hayley Boatwright of Madison Heights; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Marsh United Methodist Church, 20348 Leesville Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502, by the Rev. C. Randall Harlow. Interment will take place in Conestoga, Pa., at a later date. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service, after the service and at other times at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Marsh Memorial UMC, Capital Campaign or to the Centra Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center, Centra Foundation, 1920 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
